We experienced quite a few snow storms this winter. While it was definitely pretty, we are so ready to welcome spring! Our youngest did not feel as enthusiastic about the white stuff as her older sister (who would live on eating snow if she could) and family dog. It probably didn't help that she refused to wear the majority of necessary snow gear besides a coat and hat! Below you'll find a collection of images from our time out in the snow (mostly shot with my Nikon D700, but some are iPhone images). Please also take a moment to check out Samantha's submission for March here.
february | 12 hours
Since my day is consumed with caring for our daughters who are awake for roughly 12 hours, this month I thought it would be perfect to focus on a day in our life. When I woke up early this morning (thanks, Vivian), I didn't set out with much of a plan other than to jump in and try to capture moments in our routine. I used my DLSR with the tripod for a few shots, while I shot others on a whim with my iPhone. Whether or not they actually mesh together doesn't matter, because they are true to my day today. Often times I find myself rushing around during the day, really for no good reason. This exercise has helped me to stop, take things in, and to capture some of the ordinary moments of my day that in some ways are actually extraordinary (to me). So here you have this month's entry for our 12.12.12. project, below you will find 12 images from 12 hours of my day on the 12th of February.
When you are finished scrolling through my day, please make sure to click here for Samantha's submission for February.
january | here i am
In this first month of our 12.12.12. project, I am focusing on where I am right now. Almost two months ago, my little family left Baltimore for a slightly more rural part of Maryland. We moved to a farmhouse complete with some land, a stream, chickens, roosters and geese. As a person who has lived in an urban setting for the last decade of her life (and prior to that, I lived in either the suburbs or military housing), I was a little nervous about moving here. But, I have to say already that I love it. Hopefully you see this permeate through my images as they represent our time becoming acquainted with our new digs and . . . newfound light! (Woohoo, we have light!)
My girl Samantha's first submission for our 12.12.12 project can be found here.
The below images were shot mostly with my iPhone 5s and some with my Nikon D700.

"Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop." — Ansel Adams
I am very excited to share with you a project that I am working on with my good friend and kindred spirit, Samantha Livingston. This project - which we simply call 12.12.12. - is inspired by a few collaborative projects we have come across while following some great photographers on Instagram. (As noted in my iphoneography section, I am only just slightly addicted to this little magical social media app.) With this project, Samantha and I are hoping to challenge ourselves to post 12 images on the 12th of each month for all 12 months of this year.
Here's hoping I manage to share at least one good photograph out of the 144 I plan to present by the end of 2015! But more importantly, I hope this project can help me (us) grow . . . personally + artistically + technically + socially + etc. Regardless, I hope you will check in each month to see what we are up to.
